Affordable Housing Development – 360 Units
This affordable housing development is located on Sepulveda Boulevard in North Hills – a neighborhood historically known for its hard-scrabble character and now in the early stages of revitalization.
The project represents a major step forward in transforming the area, offering high-quality, modern housing to residents. While the new structures are clean and beautifully designed, their predominantly white and gray palette made for a somewhat muted atmosphere. The surrounding city blocks also remain visually stark.
Heavens Media facilitated the installation of colorful large-scale public art. The goal was to enliven the space with cultural vibrancy while enhancing the visual identity of the development and serving as a beacon of positivity for the evolving neighborhood.
Heavens Media partnered with Baltimore-based artists Jessie and Katey to bring the project to life. The duo is renowned for transforming public spaces into lively, playful experiences. Their signature style—rooted in bold geometric abstraction—engages thoughtfully with the history, architecture, and culture of each location they work in. Jessie and Katey believe deeply in the power of aesthetics to influence mood and well-being.
With a shared passion for people and design, they bring energy, movement, and joy to overlooked and underutilized spaces through dynamic, site-specific abstract murals.
A stunning 60-foot mural now proudly frames a stretch of Sepulveda Boulevard, bringing light and energy to the surrounding area. Illuminated for passersby, the mural’s vibrant colors and flowing geometric forms offer a bold beacon of hope and transformation in the evolving neighborhood.
In addition to the exterior piece, Jessie and Katey extended their signaturestyle into two interior common spaces—creating dynamic, colorfulenvironments that serve as safe, welcoming areas for residents to gather, relax, and play. These works collectively reinforce the development’s role as both a community anchor and a symbol of positive change.
