Pointe Common – Fullerton, CA
Affordable Multifamily Housing Community – 62 Units

THE PROJECT

Pointe Common is a new 62-unit affordable multifamily housing community located in Fullerton, California. Designed to provide high-quality housing for individuals and families earning below the area median income, the development features thoughtfully designed residences and amenities typically found in market-rate communities, creating an uplifting and welcoming environment for its residents.

Situated along Commonwealth Avenue, the property’s 422-foot rear wall runs adjacent to one of the region’s busiest railroad corridors, presenting a unique opportunity for a large-scale public art installation. The developer envisioned a series of vibrant murals spanning the length of the wall, anchored by a signature mural at the north end overlooking the community tot lot and visible to both residents and the public.

To create a cohesive artistic experience, the developer also commissioned the same artist to design original interior artwork that would complement the exterior murals. The collection includes framed original works displayed throughout the lobby, community spaces, and residential corridors, creating a seamless visual connection between the interior and exterior while reinforcing the identity of the community.

THE ARTIST

Heavens Media collaborated with internationally renowned Spanish artist Rubén Sánchez, whose bold use of color and distinctive style of visual storytelling have made him one of today’s leading contemporary muralists. Known for his vibrant large-scale murals and original artworks, Sánchez was the ideal artist to bring the developer’s vision to life.

THE OUTCOME

Rubén Sánchez created a dynamic series of bold, colorful murals spanning more than 400 feet along the property’s perimeter wall. Large-scale murals are thoughtfully interspersed with smaller “easter egg” artworks, creating a natural rhythm that invites residents and visitors to discover new details throughout the length of the installation.

Anchoring the mural program is a vibrant signature artwork overlooking the community tot lot, celebrating themes of play, imagination, and connection. Inside the community, Sánchez created a collection of one-of-a-kind original artworks that were professionally framed and installed throughout the lobby, community spaces, and residential corridors, extending the visual language of the exterior murals into the interior.

The centerpiece of the interior collection is a striking triptych installed above the community mailboxes, creating a memorable first impression for residents and visitors alike. Together, the interior and exterior artworks transform Pointe Common into a cohesive artistic environment, enriching the community with color, creativity, and a strong sense of identity.
